Fingrow Consulting Group has been actively working to break down social barriers for years. The main barrier we most often encounter is the lack of awareness among employers of how valuable a person with a disability can be as an employee and specialist in their field.
Juan José Méndez, a disabled Spanish cyclist and silver and bronze medalist at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, has become a symbol of the struggle against adversity. His phrase, “Don’t tell me you can’t do it,” resonated worldwide. Although his leg and arm were amputated and he experienced near-death, he refused to give up. He describes himself as having “outsmarted death.”
Méndez’s story demonstrates that disability doesn’t have to be a limitation in life. In their daily work, Fingrow Consulting Group interacts with people with disabilities, who demonstrate that with persistence, hard work, and fortitude, anything is possible. Every day, we convince employers that hiring people with disabilities is worthwhile. Unfortunately, Polish employers still don’t understand the benefits—including financial and reputational ones.
Any business employing at least 25 people who doesn’t achieve the 6% disability employment rate must make a mandatory monthly payment to the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON) equal to the number of disabled employees “missing” the required 6% multiplied by 40.65% of the average salary. This is money that could have been kept in the company’s coffers!
Because we recruit people with disabilities for our clients on a daily basis, we know that these individuals are competent, hard-working, diligent, honest, and sometimes even qualified as specialists in their field. Despite this, we often hear from our clients that people with disabilities simply can’t complete certain tasks.
This is simply not true. We know from experience that people with disabilities possess diverse and versatile competencies. The difference is that a qualified individual often has a milder disability. Despite their physical limitations, these individuals demonstrate admirable determination and motivation to acquire competencies, knowledge, and skills, both in their personal lives, sports, and at work. Employing disabled employees also enhances a company’s prestige and aligns with the philosophy of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Fingrow Consulting Group helps companies employing people with disabilities effectively reduce operating costs. Our experts also conduct comprehensive recruitment of disabled employees, handled by our dedicated company, Fingrow Management.
