Citizens of Ukraine are the largest group of foreigners who bought a flat last year in Poland - according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.
The MSWiA report on the acquisition of real estate in Poland by foreigners - both by natural and legal persons - indicates that in 2017, foreigners became the owners of 6385 premises in our country, including 4822 apartments and 1563 commercial premises. And although the dynamics of the purchase of Polish real estate by foreigners last year slowed (growth at 3.7% compared to approx. 20% in 2015 and 2016), Polish apartments and commercial premises were more willingly bought by Ukrainians.
According to data collected by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, last year Ukrainian citizens bought 24% more real estate than Germans and the British put together. They most willingly invested in real estate located in the Mavovian province, and the least often - in the Subcarpathia, Podlasie and Świętokrzyskie voivodships.
Foreigners showed the greatest interest in Warsaw premises; in 2017, foreigners bought 1213 apartments in the capital (with a total area of 89.2 sq m), which gives 30% of the total housing area purchased in Poland by citizens from abroad. Next came Krakow and Wroclaw. The average size of a flat purchased in 2017 by foreigners amounted to 63 sq m.
