Poland ranked second in terms of admitting foreigners and the first in terms of the number of documents issued to foreigners from outside the European Union due to the willingness to work. The Ukrainians constitute the largest percentage in this group.
The latest Eurostat data (European Statistical Office) concern residence permits issued in the European Union in 2016. At that time, Poland was in the forefront of the countries that issued the absolute number of residence permits to foreigners. Only Great Britain was ahead. However, in terms of the number of documents that were issued to foreigners from outside the EU due to the willingness to work, Poland was at the top of the list.
According to Eurostat, in 2016, such documents in Poland were most often issued to Ukrainian citizens who constituted the overwhelming majority. Ukrainians received as much as 87.5% of all work permits issued (513 thousand in total). The second place was taken by the citizens of Belarus (4.8%) and the third by Moldova (1.3%).
